About The Voice
The Voice is Managed and staffed predominantly by volunteers who live and work within your local community.
Following the announcement of and the subsequent closure of the broadcast studios in North Devon, the area was left without a truly local station for North Devon.
In June 2010 – a campaign was started to get a local radio station back in North Devon for North Devon.
By November 2010 studio equipment had been bought and the first 28 day Restricted Service Licence (RSL) broadcasts started. A series of short term broadcasts followed in Barnstaple and Bideford up to March 2012.
In April 2012 – The Voice launched as a Digital Radio station broadcast on DAB (Digital ) Radio around Devon (except Plymouth).
Also in April 2012 – The Voice was granted a community radio licence to broadcast on FM around Bideford, Barnstaple and Ilfracombe.
January 2014 - Our new FM service was launched on Saturday 18th January 2014, on 106.1 and 107.8 fm.
