ON AIR: Non-Stop Love
Dave Stewart,Colin Blunstone: What Becomes Of The Broken Hearted

Oliver Tooley

I only moved to North Devon from London towards the end of 2011 after feeling for some time that I was just not meant to be a city boy. I found out that two branches of my family came from Devon and Cornwall, one side having included a Mayor of Plymouth and the other including three generations of Exeter Lace-makers.
Having bought a house right in the middle of Ilfracombe I made a decision to be as much a part of local life as I could. Getting involved with the music scene was top priority and when I was told that The Voice wanted volunteer presenters I thought this would be a great opportunity to get involved in the local scene and help promote unsigned bands as well.
North Devon life takes a bit of adjusting to. I've stopped trying to go shopping on Sunday evenings and I sometimes remember to allow extra time when attempting to walk along the High Street (for stopping and chatting to friends); but I will never ever get used to people giving way at junctions when it is their right of way!
North Devon's idea of a traffic jam amuses me as well. In London they call it free flowing. The best part about living in North Devon is that feeling when I drive back from the studio and see the sea shining and glittering in the sunshine and Hillsborough rising majestically, swathed in green, and I say to myself in hushed tones "I LIVE here. I am not a tourist." (Although of course I know I will always be a grockle, despite innumerable ancestor’s bones lying in Devon soil)
