Dog of the Week - King

King is a seven-year-old German Shepherd who is a real gentleman. He is looking for a home at Dogs Trust Ilfracombe Rehoming Centre.

King will make somebody a great companion as he’s affectionate, loves company and adores a fuss. He is very polite when he meets and greets new people, with all four paws on the floor. He likes to have his hair brushed, which will need doing regularly. He walks nicely on lead and will happily get into a car to go off for a walk. He may bark when he initially meets other dogs, but he does settle when walking side by side. Walking with friendly, calm dogs from time to time will help with his socialisation skills, but as he likes his own space he would be better as the only dog in the home. King is motivated by food, he already knows a ‘sit’, ‘paw’ and ‘down’ and he’s keen to learn more for nice tasty treats.

King is looking for a loving home where he could live with family members older than 14 years old. A nice secure garden would be ideal. He loves company so someone at home most of the time would be great, with time left alone built up gradually once King has settled into his new environment.

If you think you can give King the loving, forever home he deserves, then please give our Canine Carers a call at our Ilfracombe Rehoming Centre on 01271 812709, we are open every day between 12noon and 4pm except Wednesday when we are open from 4.30pm until 7.30pm.

Other Dogs of the Week

Benji

Benji is a handsome four-year-old Terrier who is looking for a home from Dogs Trust Ilfracombe Rehoming Centre.

Once Benji knows you he forms a close loving bond. It doesn’t take him long to get to know someone and when he does he absolutely adores fuss and cuddles, and he snuggles up on your lap. He is an extremely affectionate boy. He enjoys playing with toys, especially a ball. He also likes ‘find it’ games and treat puzzles. He knows a sit, down and paw and hangs out in our back office where he enjoys having a snooze. He enjoys his walks but doesn’t need much exercise as he has hip dysplasia, which is managed by medication and reduced exercise. He is happy, he’s doing very well and it is assessed every month by the vet. Benji needs his walks to be quiet, and peaceful, and away from the hustle and bustle.

Benji is looking for patient, understanding adopters in an adult only home. He needs a home where he can feel safe and secure. He would like a quiet home, and to be the only pet in the home so he can have all the attention that he loves to himself. He would like a secure garden and potential adopters must be prepared to visit Benji a few times at the centre to build that loving bond with him. He is happy to travel in a car to get to those peaceful walks.

If you think you can give Benji the loving, forever home he deserves, then please give our Canine Carers a call at our Ilfracombe Rehoming Centre on 01271 812709, we are open every day between 12noon and 4pm except Wednesday when we are open from 4.30pm until 7.30pm.

Ginger

Ginger is five-year-old Jack Russell Terrier who is looking for a home from Dogs Trust Ilfracombe Rehoming Centre.

Ginger is fun and active, and also sweet and sensitive. She is initially shy of meeting new people, and tends to be more wary of men. A gentle approach to handling is needed until she knows and trusts you, then Ginger initiates fuss, and with people she knows she is affectionate and cuddly. She loves to play with toys, her favourites are the squeaky variety and she runs around really fast with such excitement! Ginger likes to interact with you through a game of fetch. When it’s warm outside she likes a paddling pool to jump in and out of. Ginger has made friends with a few dogs here at the centre, she likes a play, but prefers the quiet type.

Ginger is looking for a loving, active home, where adopters will be prepared to visit her a few times at the centre before adopting. She is particularly nervous of visitors to the home so will need a quiet home without too many people coming in and out. She would like quiet, tranquil walks away from the hustle and bustle of people, and a nice garden to play fetch in. Ginger could possibly live with a calm dog in the home or equally be as happy as the only dog in the home with canine walking buddies when out and about.

If you think you can give Ginger the loving, forever home she deserves, then please give our Canine Carers a call at our Ilfracombe Rehoming Centre on 01271 812709, we are open every day between 12noon and 4pm except Wednesday when we are open from 4.30pm until 7.30pm.
