Dog of the Week - Lizzie

Lizzie is a four-year-old affectionate rough-coated Lurcher who is looking for a home from Dogs Trust Ilfracombe Rehoming Centre.

She is a beautiful friendly girl who loves to meet and greet new people and have a fuss made of her. She loves to play with soft teddies and interact with you through a game of fetch. She enjoys going for walks in quiet peaceful locations. She can be worried by other dogs, and needs to build confidence by walking with friendly, calm dogs. She has a few canine walking buddies who she is comfortable with.

Lizzie is currently living in a foster home on our Home from Home Scheme whilst she waits for her special someone to come and adopt her. Her foster carers say that she is extremely affectionate and great with visitors to the home. She is used to someone around the home most of the time therefore time left alone will need to be built up gradually. Lizzie could live with children in the home as young as ten-years. She could possibly live with another dog if they are a good match. She would like a nice garden to play in and adopters who will carry on her socialisation with other dogs.

If you think you can give Lizzie the loving, forever home she deserves, then please give our Canine Carers a call at our Ilfracombe Rehoming Centre on 01271 812709, we are open every day between 12noon and 4pm except Wednesday when we are open from 4.30pm until 7.30pm.

Other Dogs of the Week

Benji

Benji is a handsome four-year-old Terrier who is looking for a home from Dogs Trust Ilfracombe Rehoming Centre.

Once Benji knows you he forms a close loving bond. It doesn’t take him long to get to know someone and when he does he absolutely adores fuss and cuddles, and he snuggles up on your lap. He is an extremely affectionate boy. He enjoys playing with toys, especially a ball. He also likes ‘find it’ games and treat puzzles. He knows a sit, down and paw and hangs out in our back office where he enjoys having a snooze. He enjoys his walks but doesn’t need much exercise as he has hip dysplasia, which is managed by medication and reduced exercise. He is happy, he’s doing very well and it is assessed every month by the vet. Benji needs his walks to be quiet, and peaceful, and away from the hustle and bustle.

Benji is looking for patient, understanding adopters in an adult only home. He needs a home where he can feel safe and secure. He would like a quiet home, and to be the only pet in the home so he can have all the attention that he loves to himself. He would like a secure garden and potential adopters must be prepared to visit Benji a few times at the centre to build that loving bond with him. He is happy to travel in a car to get to those peaceful walks.

If you think you can give Benji the loving, forever home he deserves, then please give our Canine Carers a call at our Ilfracombe Rehoming Centre on 01271 812709, we are open every day between 12noon and 4pm except Wednesday when we are open from 4.30pm until 7.30pm.

Ginger

Ginger is five-year-old Jack Russell Terrier who is looking for a home from Dogs Trust Ilfracombe Rehoming Centre.

Ginger is fun and active, and also sweet and sensitive. She is initially shy of meeting new people, and tends to be more wary of men. A gentle approach to handling is needed until she knows and trusts you, then Ginger initiates fuss, and with people she knows she is affectionate and cuddly. She loves to play with toys, her favourites are the squeaky variety and she runs around really fast with such excitement! Ginger likes to interact with you through a game of fetch. When it’s warm outside she likes a paddling pool to jump in and out of. Ginger has made friends with a few dogs here at the centre, she likes a play, but prefers the quiet type.

Ginger is looking for a loving, active home, where adopters will be prepared to visit her a few times at the centre before adopting. She is particularly nervous of visitors to the home so will need a quiet home without too many people coming in and out. She would like quiet, tranquil walks away from the hustle and bustle of people, and a nice garden to play fetch in. Ginger could possibly live with a calm dog in the home or equally be as happy as the only dog in the home with canine walking buddies when out and about.

If you think you can give Ginger the loving, forever home she deserves, then please give our Canine Carers a call at our Ilfracombe Rehoming Centre on 01271 812709, we are open every day between 12noon and 4pm except Wednesday when we are open from 4.30pm until 7.30pm.
