Chris has lived in North Devon all his life, spending his childhood in West Down and attending West Down Primary School and then Braunton Secondary.

After he left school, he started training as a motor mechanic and also set up his own mobile disco, called “The Funky Chicken Roadshow”.

His love of music grew and he got involved in the start-up of Tarka Hospital Radio, where he presented for 27 years. He also co-presented a community programme 'back in the day', when Lantern Radio came to Bideford.
