The Voice and North Devon Hospice

One of the main reasons that The Voice was initially created way back in 2010 was because we firmly believed North Devon needed a community radio station that would really give a ‘voice’ to the many fantastic charities and fundraisers in our region.

Eight years on and this core belief is still at the heart of The Voice and we’re proud to now be working with some pretty phenomenal charities and their amazing staff.

One such charity who we’ve had the honour of working with over a number of years is the North Devon Hospice based in Newport, Barnstaple.

For those of you not in the know, North Devon Hospice was created in 1994 and ever since then it's been providing specialist care and support to local people affected by life-limiting illness. Over 3,000 people every year are now helped by this wonderful organisation which not only provides specialist care to patients at the hospice but also in their own homes as well. In addition, the hospice provides support to each member of the patient’s family throughout their loved one’s journey, even and perhaps especially, through the toughest of times.

We’re lucky enough to have frequent visits to the studio by the hospice team and it's always a delight to have them visit and to find out about their their events and fundraising projects. Somehow the studio always seems a little more uplifted each time they come to see us leaving a trail of kindness in their wake.

Thank you for everything you do guys - you’re truly very special people, doing very special work.
